GALVESTON, Texas (CW39) — A 21-year-old man went missing Sunday afternoon while swimming with his family near the 7300 block of Seawall Boulevard, according to the Galveston Island Beach Patrol.
It happened around noon on October 5, prompting a large-scale search and rescue effort involving the Galveston Island Beach Patrol, Galveston Fire Department, Galveston Police Department, Galveston EMS, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Crews searched the area by water, air, and land for nearly two hours, but the swimmer was not located.
Representatives from Jesse Tree and the Survivor Support Network, organizations that assist families of missing swimmers, are currently providing support to the man’s family.
