As many as 18 people have been displaced after an apartment fire early Sunday morning.

It happened at the Cross Lake Apartments on Biltmore Way.

Arriving units noted flames coming out of the top of the building, and a second alarm was called in.

Part of the roof collapsed, but the fire was brought under control after a little less than an hour.

The cause will likely be ruled accidental.
