Recently, St. Louis County removed information available to employees regarding non-indigenous BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ populations. The county also eliminated services tailored to those populations, according to county employees I spoke with and confirmed by a member of the County Board whom I contacted.
These moves were made without the knowledge of or a vote from our elected commissioners.
In addition, the upcoming 43rd annual St. Louis County Health and Human Services conference lists no presentations on these communities, which is a significant departure from previous years. County leadership has been silent and has offered no public explanation for these decisions.
Because the process has not been publicized, who made the decisions and why the decisions were made is a mystery.
