A legendary Edinburgh shop that had served the community for more than a century shut its doors for the final time in 2022, with residents then sharing fond memories of the distinctive customer service that awaited beyond the entrance.

Tucked away on Raeburn Street in Stockbridge, Corson Hardware first launched in the late 19th century and became a familiar fixture for countless locals over the decades.

With merchandise-packed windows and every conceivable piece of bric-a-brac imaginable, the real challenge was whether the 'miserable' proprietor would actually permit you to purchase anything.

As neighbours spotted renovation work beginning on the premises in the summer of 2022, they flocked to social media to share tales of their peculiar encounters at Corson's from years past.
