The next full moon will be the harvest supermoon, set to rise on Monday, Oct. 6, with peak illumination at 10:47 p.m. CT.

It will rise low on the horizon, and unlike other full moons, it will rise at about the same time for several nights.

Why is it called the harvest supermoon?

This year, October is known as the harvest supermoon because it falls on the date closest to the autumn equinox. In 2024, the title of harvest moon went to the September full moon.
