PHOENIX (AZFamily) — In a sign of the modern times, the Phoenix area’s major printed news source will now be printed elsewhere.

Starting Monday, Oct. 6, The Arizona Republic (azcentral) newspaper will be printed in Las Vegas, Nevada, then trucked into the Valley, according to its parent company, Gannett.

Sunday was the last day of printing operations at The Republic ’s Deer Valley printing press. Crews will now work to dismantle the printing press in Phoenix before the building can be sold, Gannett says.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal will take over printing operations. The joint-publishing arrangement was made in order to cut costs, according to azcentral .
