A motorist who was driving while impaired by medication when she killed a cyclist in Pierrefonds will serve no time behind bars.
While calling the case before him unique, Quebec Court Judge Dennis Galiatasatos said it would serve no good to society to sentence Christine Pryde, 33, of Île Bizard, to a sentence that would involve incarceration.
On May 18, 2021, Pryde killed Irène Dehem, 50, while behind the wheel of a Hyundai Accent shortly after noon. The crash occurred on l’Anse-à-l’Orme Rd.
“Miss Pryde is keenly aware of the gravity of her behaviour and the importance of not repeating it,” Galiatsatos said. “The trial process has had a massive affect on her life. That is not to say that the risk she poses has dissipated. I’m acutely worried, still, about the thought of her getting behi
