A long-serving Market Basket executive will join her former boss in the unemployment rolls after speaking with the Boston Herald and other media outlets.

The ongoing turmoil at the top of the popular Bay State-based grocery store chain has expanded to now include senior finance executive and 30-year Market Basket veteran Sue Dufresne, one of the last remaining old-guard executive-level employees around after the leadership shake-up leading to the removal of former CEO Artie T. Demoulas began.

Dufresne was informed of her removal via email on September 30, according to her spokesperson, and was apparently fired from her position after speaking with the Herald for an article published on Sept. 2, and over an earlier piece by the Boston Globe published on July 29.
