Michigan is coming off a hot weekend that set temperature records across the state, according to data from National Weather Service.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, Marquette reported a new temperature record of 82 degrees for the day, which broke the city's old record of 78 degrees set in 2005 and tied in 2011.

Many cities in northern Michigan reported new records nearing 90 degrees, including Charlevoix, Traverse City, Petoskey and West Branch. Alpena tied the record of 85 degrees on Oct. 5, which was set in 2005.

Sunday was the second day in a row that featured numerous high temperature records .
