Ike Turner Jr., the musician and Grammy-winning sound engineer son of music icons Tina and Ike Turner, has died at the age of 67.

Turner died on Saturday at a hospital in Los Angeles from kidney failure, according to TMZ . His health had been declining for some time, including a history of severe heart issues and a stroke he suffered in early September.

His cousin, Jacqueline Bullock confirmed the news in a statement to Page Six .

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner Jr.,” Bullock said. “‘Junior’ was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.”

Turner was born in 1958 to Ike Turner and Lorraine Taylor, he was then adopted by Tina Turner early in his life.
