Calgary students are home this Monday as teachers hold out for a better deal with the province

School’s out for thousands of Calgary students, as more than 51,000 members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) moved forward with a provincewide strike action Monday.

Calgary school boards have confirmed the cancellation of classes and transportation services due to the labour action starting Monday.

The Calgary Board of Education posted a notice on its website confirming that all classes, school bus service, athletics, field trips and other extracurricular activities are suspended until further notice.

Most childcare facilities located in CBE schools will continue to operate, the CBE said.
