Meridian’s chances of getting a second In-N-Out Burger restaurant took another setback last month, when the city council nixed the California chain’s permit request 5-1.
Five months prior to that, the permit was denied 4-1 by the Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission.
While the chain’s planners attempted to mitigate the city’s congestion concerns with decreased operating and delivery hours and light reduction measures, council members ultimately remained unconvinced that the Chinden Boulevard/Ten Mile Road intersection site could handle high drive-thru demand or competing traffic with athletic events at neighboring high schools.
