Former Nazareth Area High School wrestling standout Sammy Sasso was admitted Monday into a first-time offender program that will allow him to have gun charges wiped from his criminal record.

Sammy Sasso , 25, of Upper Nazareth Township, was pulled over for driving with an expired registration July 16, in Nazareth, when police found four handguns and THC vape cartridges in the car.

His attorney, Gary Asteak, said the guns were legally purchased in Ohio. Sasso wouldn’t have been charged with a gun crime had he obtained a concealed carry permit after returning to Pennsylvania, according to Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta. Asteak said Sasso will get the proper license to carry the guns.
