JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - In 2024, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that all individuals who were 18 years old at the time of their conviction for First Degree Homicide must have their cases reviewed and be resentenced.

Earlier this year, the Court expanded that ruling to include those who were 19 and 20 years old at the time of their offense.

As a result of this decision, hundreds of cases across Michigan will require resentencing. In Jackson County alone, 19 individuals are entitled to a new sentencing hearing.
