Three people were injured when a plane crashed Sunday afternoon in Aitkin County.
The sheriff’s office said two of the people aboard the plane were taken by ground ambulance to a hospital in Aitkin, while a third person was airlifted for treatment of their injuries. All three were reported in stable condition on Monday.
The crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. near the McGregor Airport. First responders found the crashed plane about a half-mile southeast of the airport.
“Initial information indicates that the plane, a Piper PA-28-140, lost power shortly after takeoff and was attempting to return to the McGregor Airport when it went down in a swampy area short of the runway,” the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
