TOWN OF LERAY, New York (WWNY) - A town of LeRay woman is accused of seriously injuring a caseworker with Jefferson County Child Protective Services.
State police charged 31-year-old Julia Gagniere of the town of LeRay with second-degree assault and child endangerment.
According to troopers, CPS was at Colonial Manor in the town of LeRay for a welfare check on September 26.
During the CPS investigation, Gagniere allegedly head-butted the caseworker, who was holding a five-month-old infant at the time.
Police said the caseworker sustained serious injuries and was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for treatment.
Gagniere was arraigned and released. She’s due back in LeRay Town Court on October 8.
