The U.S. Coast Guard’s San Diego sector interdicted seven migrants suspected of trying to enter the United States illegally aboard a 24-foot cabin vessel about two miles south of Dana Point Harbor, officials announced Monday.

Around 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Coast Guard Cutter Sockeye’s boarding team intercepted the vessel carrying seven adults who claimed Mexican nationality, according to USCG officials.

Crew members aboard the Sockeye detained all seven people and towed the vessel to the Orange County Sheriff’s Dock.

They were taken to another agency within the Department of Homeland Security for further investigation, officials added.
