ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of S.R. 19 and C.R. 28 around 5:25 p.m., Saturday, for a two-vehicle crash.

Authorities say a 2011 Dodge Caliber, driven by a 17-year-old Elkhart boy, was traveling east on C.R. 28, approaching the intersection with S.R. 19.

The report states the teen came to a stop at the intersection before continuing through, failing to yield to a 2008 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 25-year-old Nappanee man.

The Jeep then struck the teen's car, pushing it into a powerline pole.

The teen had complaints of chest pain and was cleared by medics on scene.

The teen's backseat passenger suffered a bloody nose and complaints of leg pain. The passenger was then taken to Elkhart General Hospital for
