Singapore wants to expand its military ties with Australia, including through a greater Australian troop presence in the island state as part of an upgraded trade and defence relationship, according to Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
The move comes hot on the heels of a landmark defence treaty between Australia and Papua New Guinea , signed in Canberra on Monday.
The agreement struck by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and PNG Prime Minister James Marape will see as many as 10,000 Papua New Guineans serve with the Australian Defence Force.
