NELSON COUNTY, Ky. —

Brooks Houck, the man convicted of murdering in Crystal Rogers, has filed an appeal to overturn his conviction.

Houck was found guilty of murder - principal or accomplice and tampering with physical evidence on July 8. He was later sentenced to life in prison.

Houck's attorneys filed a notice of appeal on Monday to overturn that conviction.

They are also appealing the order that denied Houck's motion to recuse and the motion that consolidated his trial with co-defendant Joseph Lawson.

Joseph Lawson filed a motion in September to appeal his conviction in the case as well. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.
