Kelowna’s $1 million-plus off-leash dog park officially opens Thursday but Jeff de Jesus and his dog Ollie are already repeat visitors.

“This is the second time I’ve been here and I think it’s great,” de Jesus said Monday of the new facility, built in what the city says had been the under-used south-east corner of City Park.

The off-leash dog park has more features than one typically encounters in such a facility, with little ramps, tunnels, bridges, and beams for pooches to play on.

“This is one of the most unique spaces in Kelowna for dogs - designed to be engaging and fun for both pets and their owners,” says Mac Logan, the city’s infrastructure general manager.
