At the corner of Dauphine and St. Anne streets, a tiny late-night Chinese restaurant that served Bourbon Street revelers for more than 25 years has closed for good.
China Moon Wok , a French Quarter staple hidden among the tourist-heavy eateries a block away, had its last dinner service Sunday, manager Thai Hang Vu said in an emotional Instagram post.
Nestled on a block among some of the neighborhood's most notable gay bars, it was not unusual to see patrons at Good Friends or Lafitte's in Exile eating from to-go boxes full of fried rice, egg rolls and sesame chicken prepared by Vu, who took over the restaurant from her uncle after Hurricane Katrina.
Vu's children and late mother also worked at her restaurant, making it a true family affair. Their patrons became friends, family and ev
