EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- Regional transit services are returning to Socorro after they ended this summer, the El Paso Transportation Authority said in a news release on Monday, Oct. 6.

The El Paso Transportation Authority (ETA) and the City of Socorro have reached an agreement to restore regional transit services.

This comes after service was ended in July. El Paso County said that the Socorro City Council had voted twice to not participate in the regional transit system.

On Sept. 24, the ETA Board of Directors authorized the removal of restrictions placed upon passengers wanting to get picked up or dropped off within the City of Socorro as of Oct. 1, the Transit Authority said.

Starting Oct. 1, three routes will now make pickups and drop-offs within the City limits of Socorro.
