BARDSTOWN, Ky. — Brooks Houck, one of three men convicted for the murder of Crystal Rogers, has filed an appeal with the Kentucky Supreme Court.
The appeal came almost three weeks after Houck and Joseph Lawson were sentenced. Judge Charles Simms sentenced Houck to life and five years for tampering with evidence. However, since Kentucky law forbids a sentence greater than life in prison, the sentences will run concurrently. Lawson received 20 years for conspiracy and five years for tampering. His sentences will run consecutively.
According to documents filed in Nelson County Circuit Court, Houck, through his attorney, formally filed an appeal to have his conviction overturned.
