PLEASANT GROVE — A 6-year-old boy riding a bike was struck by a car and critically injured on Friday night.

About 5 p.m., Pleasant Grove police responded to a crash in front of Lincoln Academy, 1582 W. 3300 North. Police Lt. Derick Shumway confirmed an SUV struck a boy who was riding a bike.

The boy, who police originally said was 8 years old, was flown to Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition. On Monday, Shumway corrected the boy's age, saying he is actually 6 years old.

Shumway did not have an update on the boy's condition Monday, except to say he was still being monitored in the hospital.

The road in front of the school was shut down while police investigated the accident. ×
