The City of Charlotte announced on Monday that Andrea Leslie-Fite has been named city attorney.

Leslie-Fite currently serves as the Guilford County Attorney and has more than 18 years of experience in local government. City Council unanimously selected Leslie-Fite for the role after interviews.

As city attorney, Leslie-Fite will be one of three employees appointed by the City Council, along with the city manager and city clerk. She will oversee the City Attorney’s Office, which has 52 employees and provides legal counsel and representation to the mayor, City Council, and City Manager.

Her previous roles include city attorney for Shelby, N.C., senior assistant city attorney for Charlotte, and assistant county attorney for Cleveland County.

She received her doctorate from North Carolina
