Their advocacy comes as the province prepares to consider the Supporting Children and Students Act, which would give the government more control over school boards, including the ability to put boards under supervision outside of financial concerns.

“We know trustees aren’t perfect, but they are accessible and accountable to the Ontarians who vote them in,” reads a joint media release from union leaders representing over 3,500 public education workers, including Grand Erie elementary and secondary teachers, early-childhood educators, and occasional teachers.
