Front Royal leaders and town officials took up proposed zoning changes that, if approved, could open the door for data centers.

Mayor Lori Cockrell, Vice Mayor Amber Veitenthal and council members Melissa DeDomenico-Payne, Joshua Ingram, H. Bruce Rappaport, R. Wayne Sealock and Glenn Wood discussed the proposal. Director of Planning and Zoning Lauren Kopishke and Deputy Zoning Administrator John Lee presented information about the proposed changes.

The text amendment as proposed defines and, thereby, adds “data center” to allowable land uses. Performance standards required for current allowable uses would apply to data centers. The proposed amendment also includes a slate of standards specific to data centers.
