BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) -- One of the biggest draws for tourism in the fall is West Virginia's gorgeous fall foliage.

With the state being in a drought status for most of the last part of summer, how has that affected things?

Typically, in the fall, the mountains of West Virginia are ablaze with hues of brilliant red, bright orange, and glittering gold.

This year, as many have noticed, the fall colors aren't as present as usual.

This could be caused by the drought the state has experienced over the last part of the summer months.

Service Forester, Mat Bailey said the drought has affected several species of trees.
