Srinagar- The Horticulture Department of Kashmir has begun assessing crop damage following unseasonal snowfall and rains that affected several parts of the Valley in recent days, officials said on Tuesday.

Deputy Director of Horticulture, Kashmir, Javid Ahmad Bhat said that field officers have been directed to conduct detailed surveys in their areas to evaluate losses faced by fruit growers, particularly apple cultivators, as the harvesting season is still ongoing in many regions.

“Assessment of crop damages is currently underway across various districts. Officers have been instructed to visit affected orchards and compile detailed reports. We are taking all possible measures to ensure accurate estimation of losses,” Bhat said.
