One in six residents of southern New England and New Hampshire occasionally legally bet on sports , a new poll from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center found.

Most people who live in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island don’t bet on sports. However, 15% do sometimes: 2% bet on sports a few times a week or more, 1% bet a few times a month, less than 1% bet once a month, 5% bet a few times a year and 6% bet less often than that.

And of those who are major New England Patriots fans , 29% place bets on sports.
