MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway spoke about her 2026 executive operating budget on Tuesday, and it includes some changes for the Madison Fire Department.

Rhodes-Conway’s priorities in the new budget include adding staff and an ambulance to MFD. She said adding more resources for MFD is critical.

“It’s an investment in public safety as the city grows,” said Rhodes-Conway. “It’s also the right thing to do for our dedicated city employees. Madison’s economy is strong and employees in the public sector are struggling to keep up with inflation.

Some of her other top priorities include supporting homeless people in Madison and supporting small businesses.

She is also adding a 3% wage increase for general staff.
