Pat Cummins is yet to resume bowling as the Australia captain faces the possibility of missing the entire Ashes series.
The star quick will certainly miss the first Test in Perth, starting on November 21, after more scans revealed his back stress issue had not sufficiently improved to resume bowling.
Cummins has been restricted to gym training for the last three months.
Cricket Australia has declined to comment on Cummins’ fitness.
Cummins’ injury is improving, but Australia will be extra cautious with him given the serious back trouble he had early in his career.
With six weeks to go before facing England, Australia’s best-case scenario is regaining Cummins for two, possibly three, Tests to end the summer.
The 32-year-old last played in Australia’s 3-0 Test demolition of the West In
