Sophomore guard L.J. Cason started his freshman campaign for the Michigan men’s basketball team as good as anybody could’ve hoped. Backing up his 20-point preseason debut with another heater against Cleveland State , Cason went 5-for-9 from the field for 14 points alongside a host of steals, blocks and assists in the first regular season game.

However, this level of production soon proved to be an exception rather than a rule. While playing minimally, when the Wolverines faced tougher competition and early conference play, Cason’s numbers looked more like typical stats expected out of a true freshman.
