He has played some of the biggest stadiums in the world as the frontman of legendary rock bands Noiseworks and INXS, but nothing moves Jon Stevens more than interacting with his audiences at a live show.

"There's no greater acknowledgement than having an audience sing the songs back to you," Stevens told ABC News.

"Because after all the years of slog, and working your guts out, to actually realise and recognise that you've made a difference in some people's lives, it's very humbling."

Stevens said he was doing his job correctly when his songs resonated not just with him, but with others as well.

"I know I'm in the service industry," Stevens said.

" I know that what I do has the capacity to be able to heal and to be able to help people because I write from my truth. "
