NEW DELHI: The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is gearing up for operations in December, with both domestic and international flights expected from day one. Airlines are likely to operate 50–60 flights, including arrivals and departures, on launch day. Although the airport will be inaugurated on today , commercial passenger services at Terminal 1 will commence only in December.
A few weeks prior, NMIA will become active online, with airline websites and travel portals adding an ‘NMI’ option in their dropdown menus for booking tickets. The existing Mumbai airport operates under the IATA code ‘BOM’. During its first month of operations, NMIA will operate from 8am to 8pm.
