Sacramento native and Netflix actor Xavier Smalls returned home to premiere his new short film “Picture Perfect” at the Oak Park film festival. Known for his breakout role in Beauty and Black, Smalls said creating and showcasing his own work in his hometown is a “beautiful feeling.” The film follows a man confronting childhood trauma and anger through therapy and art, themes Smalls says come from his own experiences. The festival runs through Sunday in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood.
