Weeks after a string of unexplained child deaths in Madhya Pradesh left healthcare workers in jitters, the toll has now climbed further. 20 children have died in just a month after consuming the cough syrup Coldrif , which has tested positive for Diethylene Glycol (DEG), a highly toxic industrial chemical known to cause kidney failure. The first deaths were reported in September, and within just weeks, the toll surged, with four more fatalities in the past 24 hours.
