Crews continued battling a wildfire that blackened more than 24 acres in a remote and rugged area west of Interstate 15 in the far northern reaches of San Diego County on Wednesday morning.

The Sandia Fire erupted shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday off Sandia Creek Road in De Luz, north of Fallbrook and just south of the Riverside County line, according to Cal Fire .

As of 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, the blaze had grown to 24 acres. Containment was at 35%.

“Hard work was put in overnight. Humidity also played a part in fighting the fire. Crews will be assigned today for hot spot checks and to mitigate hazards,” Cal Fire Capt. Mike Cornette told City News Service.

All evacuation orders have been lifted in the area, officials said.
