ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - A man charged in a DWI crash that resulted in a St. Louis officer's death last year has been sentenced in an unrelated domestic assault case out St. Charles County.

Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez, 25, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading to a domestic assault charge that stemmed from 2020.

Chavez-Rodriguez is accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer David Lee on Sept. 22, 2024.

Lee was responding to a car crash on Interstate 70 near Grand Boulevard when Chavez-Rodriguez allegedly lost control of his vehicle and struck him. Lee, an 18-year veteran of SLMPD and 44 years old at the time, died from injuries suffered in the crash.
