PORTLAND, Ore. — Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem ended her surprise visit to Portland this week with a threat to Mayor Keith Wilson.
In an appearance on FOX News Tuesday night, Noem recounted her time in Portland, where she toured the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility that has been the site of ongoing protests since June. During her visit, Noem also met with state and local leaders like Mayor Wilson, Gov. Tina Kotek and Portland Police Chief Bob Day.
Noem said in part during the interview that she wanted more security at the facility, including a larger "buffer zone," claiming that Portland police had been "leaving [federal] officers hung out to dry." She also sharply criticized Wilson.
