LOS ANGELES – A 56-year-old man killed in a shooting in downtown Los Angeles was identified by authorities Wednesday.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Monday near Fifth and Main streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was identified by the county Office of Medical Examiner as Miquel Luque, whose place of residence was not immediately available. The coroner’s office reported that Luque died on the sidewalk of a gunshot wound to his right upper back and neck.

The suspect ran away after being spotted by LAPD Central Division officers who witnessed the shooting in progress, leading officers on a pursuit.
