LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A Boyd Gaming employee has filed a federal lawsuit against the company, weeks after it disclosed in a government filing that it was the victim of a data breach.

The gaming company, which is based in Las Vegas, operates 28 properties across 10 states, including Nevada, according to its website. The company employs about 16,000 people.

The employee filed the lawsuit as a potential class action on Friday, Oct. 3, according to a copy the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.

On Sept. 23, the company confirmed in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing that an “unauthorized third party removed certain data from the company’s IT systems, including information about employees and a limited number of other individuals.” The company said the breach did not affect its pr
