Another long, hot, generally dry summer came to a sudden end last weekend, when a violent storm rolled over the Valley, dumping nearly 3 inches of rain on Scottsdale.
As was the case in monsoon events for years, many city streets were flooded.

The 38-year-old man was delivering food in south Scottsdale and talked to his family just after 6 p.m. Sept. 26.
