BEDFORD, Ky. — You're invited to help make a World War II hero's birthday a magical one.

This weekend, Honor Flight Bluegrass and the Kilroy vintage military vehicle organization are teaming up with the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department to honor WWII veteran Glenn Fisher on his 99th birthday.

Besides being the last surviving founder of Bedford Fire, Glenn was also a combat veteran. At 15, he lied about his age and requested to join the war the day after the Pearl Harbor attack in December 1941. He was initially denied, but accepted two months later in February 1942. Glenn operated a 40 mm anti-aircraft gun with the 9th Army across Europe. Upon arriving on Utah Beach in France in September 1944, he crossed into Belgium, Luxembourg and finally Germany where he met the Russians at the
