A Greensboro City Council race that was decided by a margin of 51 votes on Tuesday is headed for a recount.

Guilford County Elections Director Charlie Collicutt confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Carla Franklin filed a request for a recount in her race against T. Dianne Bellamy-Small.

The machine recount will take place starting Friday at 2 p.m. in Room LG12 on the lower level of the Guilford County Courthouse at 201 S. Eugene St.

Bellamy-Small finished with 5,159 votes, or 9.23% of the vote, to Franklin’s 5,108 or 9% of the vote to claim the last spot in the group of six candidates who will advance to the general election on Nov. 4. The race is nonpartisan.
