KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tennessee Board of Parole Communications Officer Dustin Krugel told WVLT News Wednesday the first parole board member has recommended denying parole for a man who was convicted in the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, also known as the “Job Corps Murder.”

A parole review hearing for TaDaryl Shipp, who is serving life in prison, took place on Oct. 8 at Northwest Correctional Complex. Krugel says during the hearing, board member Tim Gobble voted to deny Shipp’s bid for parole, citing the seriousness of Slemmer’s murder. Gobble also recommended that Shipp’s parole case be reviewed again in October of 2030.

The rest of the seven-member board will now each review Shipp’s case and cast their votes. They can either adopt, reject or change Gobble’s recommendation.
