MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI – Police have identified the woman who was in a wheelchair when she was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle.

Mecca Orr, 48, died in the crash on Monday, Oct. 6, Muskegon Heights police Chief Maurice Sain said.

The alleged driver, Shauntelle Blackmon, 23, was arraigned Tuesday in Muskegon County District Court charged with failure to stop at the scene of a serious personal injury crash.

Blackmon was ordered held on $50,000 bond.

The crash happened around 7:40 p.m.

Orr was riding a motorized wheelchair on East Hackley Avenue near Reynolds Street in Muskegon Heights when she was struck. She was taken by ambulance to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital where she later died.

Police followed a trail of auto fluid left by the vehicle until it stopped.
