LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The federal government shutdown, now in its eighth day, is starting to affect the airline industry.
In the last few days, cancellations and delays have ticked up at major travel hubs like Chicago and Boston. Delays were reported at Nashville’s airport on Tuesday.
Here in Kentucky, airport officials said, at this time, operations are not being impacted.
“Our staffing levels for both our air traffic controllers as well as TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) have remained consistent and the same as they were pre-shutdown. So for right now, we’re just continuing business as usual,” said Natalie Chaudoin, public relations director for Louisville’s Muhammad Ali Airport.
