A New Orleans man accused of shooting and killing a Brennan's Restaurant sous chef during a Mid-City carjacking later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to an autopsy by the Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office.
Raymond Wells, 21, was pronounced dead Oct. 3 , three days after Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputies found him wounded behind the wheel of a stolen car on Interstate 10 in Metairie.
Had Wells survived the injury, he would have been arrested and booked with first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Carl Morgan , officials with the New Orleans Police Department have said.
